The Buttery: Kitchen Pantry

My fiance and I came here for dinner on a whim while on vacation. We were both pleasantly pleased at our experience here! The Buttery is a lovely and lively quaint little spot with vegetarian dishes and vegan options. The atmosphere was incredibly inviting, the service was superb, and the food was delightfully artesnal. Everything tasted wonderful, flavorful, and fresh. The coffee was also hands down the best in town, smooth and bold going down. We will be sure to come back around next time!

Amazing find for a delicious and very reasonably priced breakfast. Really friendly and wonderful service. Cute and clean inside.

Great atmosphere, very friendly and attentive staff. The food was good and well presented. Went went for Sunday brunk and we had the chicken and waffles with a side of greens and ricotta cheese. The coffee is locally roasted from mother moon coffee. Excellent lattes and espresso. The dinner is also good and the kale salad is excellent. Great addition to the area!

This sweet little buvette is a winner! We will be back to try the coffee hours but absolutely loved our experience for dinner. We had some custom hotdogs and brats and Vermont made local cider which pared really well together. Staff were super fun to chat with and big foodies. The ambiance was so perfect with the golden hour sunlight reflected from windows across the street spilling in onto us. They also have a great selection of wines, cheese, pasta, food staples to take home.

The Buttery is one of those rare places that surprises and delights every single time. No matter what’s on the menu, I’ve never left unimpressed. There’s something about their style of cuisine that I find myself craving constantly—it’s comforting, elevated, and consistently mind-blowing. Every visit feels like a mini escape; the food and atmosphere make me forget I’m in Vermont and instead whisk me away to a charming European cafe. The vibes are warm, welcoming, and thoughtfully curated, and the service is always lovely. Don’t leave without trying their pickled takeaway items—they’re just as special as the meals themselves and a great way to bring a bit of The Buttery home. I couldn’t recommend this spot more highly. A true gem.

Cannot say enough nice things about this wonderful little gem that opened up in Saint Johnsbury. Great wine selection plus a full espresso bar amazing food cute and focused menu. They’re doing it right and providing a cool space for people of all ages to want to hang out. As a 30 something year old, our age group is especially happy to have this spot open. The staff is always friendly. 10 out of 10 can vouch for the grits off the breakfast menu... Throw some bacon and a fried egg along with the sauteed kale. The perfect meal. Keep up the great work.

A true 5 star spot. The vibes are perfection, the menu is so intentional, and the local food products for sale are so carefully curated. We had breakfast and got the chili crisp cream cheese on toast, and THE BEST breakfast sandwich on earth. Like those of your dreams with carmelized onions and bacon and egg on focaccia bread. We drove 1.5 hours to get this and it DID NOT DISAPPOINT

I’ve been to the Buttery a couple of times now and I love/appreciate it, because it’s consistent! This is a place you travel to from afar, because they are that good! Fresh, flavorful food, cold beer, lovely wines, and coolest cutlery ever! The atmosphere was cozy, with candles to light up your table at dinner, on a snowy night. This is truly a 10/10 experience. Get the Kale Caesar salad no matter what! Thanks Buttery for being local and just all around, great!!!
